Trauma Informed-Care

Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) Services: A Comprehensive Approach to Healing

Definition: Trauma informed care (TIC) refers to an organizational and clinical approach that recognizes the prevalence of trauma, understand the impact of individuals, and integrated this awareness into the delivery of services.  The core philosophy behind TIC is not just to treat the symptoms of trauma, but to provide a supportive environment that facilitates healing. In a TIC framework, service providers work to create an environment that prioritizes safety, trust, empowerment, and collaboration.

Trauma-Informed Care services represent a holistic, compassionate, and evidence-based approach to supporting individuals who have experienced trauma. By incorporating core principles of safety, trust, empowerment, and collaboration, TIC services create an environment conducive to healing. Whether in healthcare, mental health services, social work, education, or law enforcement, trauma-informed practices have proven to be effective in promoting recovery, preventing re-traumatization, and supporting individuals in overcoming the lasting effects of trauma. For both the individuals served and the providers offering care, Trauma-Informed Care fosters a path toward resilience, growth, and recovery.
